WANTED: Wotan, Sarastro & Fafner (2024)

Do you wish to be the greatest god of all at our Summer Academy 2024? Or the high priest and also a giant? We are now searching for two male singers in the roles as Wotan – and Sarastro & Fafner. // The application forms are now closed. //

Bergen National Opera welcomes you to apply for the role as Wotan in Das Rheingold – or the combined role as Sarastro & Fafner at our Summer Academy Opera by the Fjord 22.-30. June 2024.

A reduced version of Das Rheingold by Richard Wagner and Die Zauberflöte by W.A. Mozart will be performed in two different concerts, with Ivar Tindberg as stage director. The excerpts will have a duration of about one hour each.

One of the two singers (bass baritone) will sing the role as Wotan in Das Rheingold. The other (bass) will sing both Sarastro in Die Zauberflöte and Fafner in Das Rheingold. The roles are to be performed by heart in the original language German.

All singers will be students at this year's Summer Academy. In addition to the specific role(s), the singers will get the opportunity to sing one of their favourite arias with the academy orchestra.

COACHED BY ALBERT DOHMEN
You will be coached by the renowned German bass-baritone Albert Dohmen (link to biography), which has established himself as one of the leading Wotan singers of his generation.
