Rita Therese Ziem

Soprano

Norwegian soprano Rita Therese Ziem has been a soloist at Bergen National Opera several times, with the title role as La Cenerentola as one of the highlights.

Rita Therese Ziem from Bergen studied at the Norwegian Academy of Music (Norges musikkhøgskole) and the Opera Academy (Operahøgskolen) in Oslo. 2006 she won the 1st prize in singing in the Norwegian competition for young artists (Ungdommens musikkmesterskap) and 2007 the 2nd prize in the national finale of Queen Sonja International Music Competition.

Season 2010/11 she was apprentice (solistpraktikant) at The Norwegian Opera a & Ballett, and sang at the Young Soloist Concert (De Unges Konsert) together with Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra.

2011/12 she was a member of the highly acclaimed Operastudio at the opera in Zurich, singing Rosina i Rossini's The Barber of Seville. Among her other opera roles are Mercedes in Carmen at Opera på Skäret and Pippo in La gazza ladra (The Thieving Magpie) by Rossini at Läckö Castle, both in Sverige.

Rita Therese Ziem has been an artist at Bergen National Opera several times: She sang the title role in La Cenerentola by Rossini 2012, and Hansel in Humperdinck's Hansel and Gretel on tour autumn 2017. Spring 2019 she performed at our concert series Opera at the Library, and in the autumn she was the chosen artist at the Afternoon Tea-event during our Operafest at Terminus.
