Tor Erik Seime Pettersen

The Norwegian pianist Tor Erik Seime Pettersen from Fana studied at the Grieg Academy in Bergen, at the University of Stavanger and at the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm, with Audun Kayser, Håkon Austbø og Staffan Scheja among his professors. He has twice been a prizewinner at the National Youth Piano Competition in Norway.

He is regularly performing as a soloist and chamber musician, and he is also in great demand as an accompanist. Pettersen has given solo performances with several orchestras and wind bands, including Khatchaturian’s piano concerto with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue, and Grieg’s piano concerto on several occasions. As a chamber musician, Pettersen has performed throughout Europe and in the United States.

He has also for several years been an artist at festivals like Bergen International Festival, Grieg in Bergen Festival and the Church Music Festival in Kristiansand

Seime Pettersen is now working in the Bergen area as an accompanist, freelance pianist and piano teacher. He has also taken classes on the fortepiano, and has a passion for performing works by the classical composers on authentic instruments. He is also doing a long-time research project on all the piano sonatas by Mozart and Beethoven.
