Simon Corder
Award winning Simon Corder has worked for La Scala, The Royal Opera and created lighting for large zoos around the world. .
Award winning designer Simon Corder left school in 1978 and joined the circus as a ring boy. He has has completed over 350 projects, including several opera, theatre, musical and dance productions, as well as zoo designs and lighting for exhibitions.
Opera includes productions for companies like La Scala in Milan, English National Opera, The Royal Opera House Covent Garden, LA Opera, Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires and Greek National Opera.
Corder has also created lighting for several zoos, like the Night Safari attraction in Singapore (the first night-time zoo in the world), and later also in Taipei City Zoo, among others. Currently he is a regular advisor and designer at Artis Zoo Amsterdam.
Theatre includes productions for the Royal Shakespeare Company, his work has also appeared several times in West End, and he was nominated for an Olivier Award in 2004. He was honored as a Knight Of Illumination in 2017.
Summer 2019 Corder was lighting designer for Un ballo in maschera by Verdi at Opera Holland Park, and autumn 2019 he contributed in four differerent productions at Wexford Festival Opera, among them Don Quichotte by Massenet.
