Opera in schools
We believe that active participation is the best way to get to know opera. That's why we invite children and young people to take part in the creative process, together with our respected and experienced artists and educators.
Bergen National Opera annually engage several hundred children and young people in Bergen and in the Vestland region. We want children and young people to experience that opera is a living art form that concerns them.

Through participation in BNO's projects, children and young people will gain increased knowledge and self-esteem. This way, the projects also contribute to the children's general development.
Members of the Edvard Grieg Children’s Choirs participate in our operas. For instance, 18 members of the Bergen Boys Choir (now: Edvard Grieg Boys Choir) made a formidable effort in Britten's opera A Midsummer Night's Dream in 2015. Here you see them pictured with Puck, played by Miltos Yerolemou:
