Samuel Winter

Baryton Samuel Winter is back as the Page in the family opera Amahl and the Night Visitors in December.

Samuel Winter (born December 2005) is a baryton in Edvard Grieg Boys Choir and Edvard Grieg Youth Choir. He is also part of the Edvard Grieg Talent Program, and he is currently a music student at Bergen Private Gymnas (BPG).

Samuel had the role as the apprentice in the much-acclaimed performances and recording of Britten's Peter Grimes by Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir and Bergen National Opera in 2017 and 2019, performing in Bergen, Oslo, Edinburgh and London. He also had a children’s role in Werther performed in Bergen in 2019.

Samuel has performed as a soloist at various venues by Edvard Grieg Choirs and Bergen National Opera, such as the Bergen OperaPub and now former Artistic Director Mary Miller’s farewell-concert.

As a boy soprano, he was one of the soloists in Britten’s Saint Nicholas with Collegium Musicum and he regularly performed Pie Jesu and Panis Angelicus in concerts together with his younger brother Benjamin.

Samuel is also a percussionist and a regular member of the renowned brass band Eikanger Bjørsvik Musikklag. He is also found behind the drum set in jazz-ensembles and contemporary music bands.
