Roderick Williams

Captain Balstrode:

Roderick Williams is back as Captain Balstrode in our Peter Grimes autumn 2019.

English baritone Roderick Williams trained at the Guildhall School of Music, and at the same time he made his operatic debut as Tarquinius in Britten's Rape of Lucretia. In 1994 he was second prize overall in the Kathleen Ferrier singing competition. Roderick Williams is equally in demand on the opera stage as on the concert platform. He has sung with famous orchestras like the BBC Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France and the Philharmonia Orchestra.

Highlights from the last seasons include Papageno in The Magic Flute and the titlerole in The Return of Ulysses, both for Royal Opera, Le Christ in La Passion selon Saint Matthieu at Théâtre des Champs-Elysées in Paris.
