Tuija Knihtilä
Tuija Knihtilä's rich and warm sounding voice with a high range is most suitable for some of the greatest mezzo and cross-over to soprano roles in opera.
Finnish mezzo-soprano Tuija Knihtilä studied at the Sibelius Academy, followed by The Hochschule der Künste in Berlin and the International Opera Studio in Zurich. Notable highlights are Brangäne/Tristan und Isolde in Venice, Venus/Tannhäuser in Frankfurt, Amneris/Aida in Bonn and Santuzza/Cavalleria rusticana in Oslo. Last season, she sang Laura/La Gioconda in Malmö, Venus in Darmstadt and took part in the world premiere of Aulis Sallinen’s work Castle in the Water. Tuija Knithilä visits Bergen National Opera for the second time before she heads off to Helsinki for the very demanding Kundry/Parsifal.
