Ingebjørg Kosmo
The Norwegian mezzo Ingebjørg Kosmo comes to Bergen as the actress Borgersen in The Merry Widow 2.0 spring 2022.
Ingebjørg Kosmo studied at Trondheim Conservatory of Music and at the Academy of Opera, and became a member of the soloist ensemble at The Norwegian Opera & Ballet in 1997.
Her long, rich history with this ensemble includes roles as Octavian in Der Rosenkavalier, the Composer in Ariadne auf Naxos, Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni and Dorabella in Così fan tutte. In 2013 she played the roles of Marcellina in The Marriage of Figaro and Bianca in The Rape of Lucretia. She has also interpreted iconic women like Mor Åse/Gamle Solveig in Grieg’s Peer Gynt and Suzuki in Madama Butterfly.
Kosmo is also a sought-after concert singer, and has performed as guest soloist in prestigious settings such as the Salzburg festivals and with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. Her lyrical mezzo gives voice to Anitra in the recording of Peer Gynt with Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra. She also performs in Tveitt's The Turtle with Stavanger Symphony Orchestra.
In 2013 she released a CD of children's songs, Mamma synger - Sanger som går i arv, together with three fellow singers.
After many years at The Norwegian Opera & Ballet Ingebjørg Kosmo is now a freelance singer. Autumn 2021 she performed as The Marquise of Berkenfield in Donizetti’s La fille du régiment (The Daughter of the Regiment) at outdoor arena of The Oscarborg Opera in Norway.
