Álvaro Zambrano
The Chilean tenor Álvaro Zambrano will be Gaston in the opera The Dead City (Die tote Stadt) by Korngold autumn 2024 here in Bergen.
The Chilean tenor Álvaro Zambrano studied singing at Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile, and later at the Musikhochschule Freiburg in Germany.
Zambrano has received a sholarship from Helene Rosenberg Foundation and an award from Commerzbank Foundation’s Gustav Scheck Competition.
Between 2012-2016 he was was a member of the Ensemble at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, where he made successful debuts as Tamino in Die Zauberflöte, Nemorino in L‘elisir d’amore and Fenton in Falstaff. Summer 2018 Zambrano was The Prince in Lulu by Alban Berg at Oper Leipzig.
Álvaro Zambrano has visited Bergen National Opera several times, like as Albazar in Il turno in Italia spring 2017 and as Don José in the chamber version of Carmen on tour autumn 2018.
Spring 2022 he was Herr Vogelsang in Mozart's Der Schauspieldirektor (The Impresario) with Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Jan Willem de Vriend.
From the season 2019/20 including 2023/24 he was a part of the ensemble at Oper Leipzig, where he has sung roles like Daland's steersman (Der Steuermann) in The flying Dutchman og Spoletta in Tosca.
Zambrano is also a singer in the Chilean-Colombian band Los Pitutos , founded in Berlin in 2015, which specialises in music from Latin America. This summer (2024) Los Pitutos played together with the München Philharmoniker in Munich as well as during the Kissinger Sommer Festival in Bad Kissingen.
