Adrian Angelico
Mezzo-soprano Adrian Angelico sings Prince Orlofsky – alias Karl-Maria Ulriken – in our new version of Die Fledermaus here in Bergen spring 2024.
Mezzo-soprano Adrian Angelico studied at the Royal College of Music and at the Benjamin Britten International Opera School. Angelico has also been a part of the International Opera Studio in Zürich.
Angelico won two special prizes at the 2009 Queen Sonja International Music Competition, and in 2017 they received the Wilhelmsen's Opera Prize.
Adrian Angelico made their Royal Opera house Covent Garden debut in 2014 singing the Marquise de Merteuil in John Fulljames' new production of Quartett. Angelico also toured with Quartett in 2017 to France, Italy and Spoleto Festival in the USA.
Angelico had the Swedish debut at The Royal Opera in Stockholm as Octavian in Der Rosenkavalier in spring 2018, and the year after they sang Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro at Gothenburg Opera. At the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg the same year (2019) they sang Prince Orlofsky in Der Fledermaus.
One of the signature roles is Octavian in Der Rosenkavalier, which they have sung at the Royal Opera in Stockholm (2018) as well as at the Norwegian Opera & Ballet (2019).
Spring 2021 Angelico sung the role as Sesto, madly in love with the deadly ambitious Vitellia – and emperor Tito's closest friend – in Mozart's La clemenza di Tito here in Bergen.
