Wiktor Sundqvist

The Swedish tenor Wiktor Sundqvist graduated in 2015 from the University College of Opera in Stockholm.

Sundqvist sung the role as Kaj in Snödrottningen (The Snow Queen) by the Swedish composer Benjamin Staern at the world premiere at Malmö Opera in 2018. At the Malmö Opera he has also appeared in the role as Harlekin in the chamber opera Döden säger nej (Original title: Der Kaiser von Atlantis) by Viktor Ullmann and as Ahmed in A Thousand and one nights by David Fjellström.

He has previously been engaged at the Göteborg Opera where he sung Janek in Janáček’s Věc Makropulos (The Makropulos Affair) and at the Wermland Opera where he has sung Alfred in Die Fledermaus. He has appeared as Juan in Don Quijote by Massenet and Pang in Turandot, both at at Folkoperan in Stockholm.

He has sung Narciso in Rossini’s Il turco in Italia at the Läckö Slottsopera and he has participated in Piteå Kammaropera's contemporary Stilla min Eld. He has also sung Don Basilio and Don Curzio in Le nozze di Figaro at NorrlandsOperan.

Sundqvist made his house debut at the Royal Swedish Opera (Kungliga Operan) in Stockholm 2021/22 as Kaj in Snödrottningen (The Snow Queen) by Staern. Wiktor also appeared in the the role of The Son in the world premiere of the staged oratorio Ålevangeliet (The Gospel of the Eels) at Folkoperan.

The season of 2022/23 commenced at the Confidencen Opera & Music festival where he sang Atis in Joseph Kraus’ opera Proserpin. He also appeared in the role of Ferrando in Così fan tutte at Uppsala Stadsteater, a co-production with Folkoperan in Stockholm that premiered in Stockholm 2022 with Wiktor in the same role.

In the season of 2019/20 Sundqvist sang Don Ottavio in Mozart's Don Giovanni at NorrlandsOperan in northern Sweden. He also participated in the independent opera company Kamraterna’s production of Antonia Walpurgis’ Talestri, regina delle amazon where he appeared in the role of Orontes.

Season 2023/24 he has sung Thespis and Merkurius (Mercure) in Rameau’s Platée at the Göteborg Opera and Courtier in Rossini's La Cenerentola (Cinderella) at Folkoperan in Stockholm.
