Renate Ekerhovd

Norwegian soprano Renate Ekerhovd sings Papagena when The Magic Flute premieres here in Bergen autumn 2022.

Soprano Renate Ekerhovd is from the island Sotra close to Bergen, and studied at The Norwegian Academy of Music – and Norwegian Academy of Opera in Oslo, before she finished her education at The Royal Danish Opera Academy in Copenhagen spring 2020.

In 2018 she had her debut at The Royal Opera in Copenhagen as Barbarina in Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro. She also sang in the highly acclaimed production Amadeus at The Royal Opera in Copenhagen, directed by Kasper Holten – in the roles as Queen of the NIght as well as Caterina Cavellieri.

She has also performed as Johanna in Sondheim's Sweeney Todd, Despina in Così fan tutte, Fortuna in The Coronation of Poppea, and Lady with a Hand Mirror i Postcard from Morocco.

Season 2020/21 she was a member of the young artist program (solistpraktikant) at The Norwegian Opera & Ballet. Her house debut there was as Frasquita in Carmen as a staged concert. She also sang Berta in The Barber of Seville and Suor Genovieffa in Suor Angelica, also as staged concerts.
