Peder Barratt-Due
The Norwegian composer Peder Barratt-Due from Oslo started as an award winning violin player, and is now based in Los Angeles.
The composer Peder Barratt-Due`s (b. 1993) musical interests started at the age of 5 when he got his first violin lesson at the Barratt Due Institute of Music in Oslo, Norway. A few highlights of his performance career includes; solo violinist for Hans Werner Henze’s Pollicino at the National Opera & Ballet of Norway 2009, 1st prize as well as Musician of the Year at the Norwegian National Competition for Young Musicians 2012 and the Scholarship Assignment Award for his leadership in the conducting orchestra at Berklee College of Music (2016).
Peder graduated from Berklee College of Music with a dual Bachelors degree (2016). His concert work has been performed at MAtera/INtermedia (MA/IN) in Italy, Echofluxx in Prague, Ultima Contemporary Music Festival and Edinburgh International Festival.
Peder Barratt-Due is one of the two composers comissioned by Bergen National Opera and Íslenska óperan (The Islandic Opera) to write an mini opera each to be world premiered at Bergen International Festival in Mai 2020.
Update spring 2020: Due to Covid-19 the world premiere for Future Opera at Bergen International Festival (Festspillene i Bergen) as well as the performance at Operadagen Rotterdam this year are CANCELLED.
