Lester Lynch

The American baritone Lester Lynch is recognized for his charismatic portrayals and commanding voice. Over the last years, his many role interpretations have brought him to the most prominent opera houses.
Highly esteemed are Crown/Porgy and Bess at Teatro alla Scala in Milan, the title role/Doktor Faust at Sächsische Staatsoper in Dresden and Shylock in Der Kaufmann von Venedig at Royal Opera in London. He has been celebrated as king Amanasro in Aida at The Dallas Opera, Pittsburgh Operam Tatar State Opera in Kazan and here at Bergen National Opera, and as Conte di Luna in Il trovatore at Opera San Antonio in Texas.
In 2017 he made his role debut as Jago/Otello here in Bergen, and also attended our Porgy and Bess-concert at Den Nationale Scene (DNS) in February 2019, together with the soprano Latonia Moore. Autumn 2019 he returned to Bergen, then as Judge Turpin in our Sweeney Todd.
