Jacob Abel

Jacob Abel is Balthazar in the family opera Amahl and the Night Visitors in December.

The bass Jacob Abel (born 1992) studied at the Music Concervatory in Tromsø, before he spring 2020 finished with a master degree from the Norwegian National Academy of Opera in Oslo. As a part of his studies in Oslo, Abel sung roles like Sarastro in The Magic Flute and Pistola in Falstaff.

The seasons 2020/21 and 2021/22 Abel was as a member of the Norwegian National Opera young artist program, where he performed like Colline in La bohème and Don Basilio in The Barber of Seville.

Jacob participated at Bergen National Opera's Summer Academy Opera by the Fjord in 2022, where he sang the role as Simone in Puccini's Gianni Schicchi. Afterwards, he was chosen as one of the five soloists in our concert Triple Mozart at Den Nationale Scene here in Bergen in September (2022).

Autumn 2023 he sang Elijah in Mendelssohn's oratorio Elijah (Elias) in Kristiansand, and then he had the roles as Nourabad and Young Zurga in Bizet's Les pêcheurs de perles (The Pearl Fishers) at Opera Ballet Flanders.

in December this year (2024) he is Balthazar for the first time, in our version of Menotti's Amahl and the Night Visitors.
