Freddie De Tommaso
The award-winning tenor Freddie De Tommaso sings Joseph/Don José in our Carmen-film.
British-Italian tenor De Tommaso studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London, graduating in 2018. At the Royal Academy of Music he sang Don José in Carmen and Rodolfo in La bohème. On graduation, he became a member of the Salzburg Festival Young Singers’ Academy. He was a member of the Bavarian State Opera’s Opera Studio in Munich 2018/19, appearing among others as Flavio in Norma and as Joe in La fanciulla del West.
In 2018 he shot to prominence when he was awarded First Prize, the Plácido Domingo Tenor Prize as well as the Verdi Prize at the 55th Francisco Viñas International Singing Competition in Barcelona.
Freddie De Tommaso made his Royal Opera House (London) debut in the 2016/17 Season as an Apprentice in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, and autumn 2019 he made his role debut as Cassio in Verdis Otello.
January 2020 he made his company and role debut as Ismaele in the new production of Nabucco with De Nationale Opera (Dutch National Opera) in Amsterdam.
September 3rd this year (2021) De Tommaso visits Oslo for a concert together with Lise Davidsen at The Norwegian Opera & Ballet.
