Eirik del Barco Soleglad
The actor Eirik del Barco Soleglad is Frosch, a frustrated superintendent in the National Economic Crime Centre, when our brand new version of Die Fledermaus premieres March 2024.
Eirik del Barco Soleglad is a Norwegian actor and director. He is known for several signature roles at Den Nationale Scene (The National Theatre) in Bergen, like Puck in En midtsommernatts drøm (A Midsummer Night’s Dream), Ebenezer Scrooge in En julefortelling (A Christmas Carol) and The Emcee in the musical Cabaret (2020).
His international debut was in 2017 in Los Angeles when he played Prince John in the production of The heart of Robin Hood at The Wallis Annenberg Theatre, a role he also played in Hong Kong in 2019.
As a director at Den Nationale Scene he has created the comedy show Henrik Ibsens samlede verker (all of Henrik Ibsen’s works in 87 minutes), and Zapffe, a monologue about the Norwegian philosopher Peter Wessel Zappfe. In 2019 he directed Heim 2 for another theatre in Bergen: Det Vestnorske Teateret.
Season 2021/22 – before he visits BNO for the first time as Zeta – he played Ingvar/Sancho Panza in the new version of the classical story about Don Quijote, which toured with Riksteatret around Norway, before it was played at Den Nationale Scene. He also played the role as the Father (Min far) in the contemporary play Dette er ikke is (This is not us) by the Norwegian author Monika Isakstuen.
Eirik del Barco Soleglad visited Bergen National Opera for the first time spring 2022, as theatre director Zeta – in The Merry Widow 2.0. He also made the Norwegian translation from Adam Price' version of the libretto, and he also is doing for Die Fledermaus spring 2024.
