Dean Murphy

American baritone Dean Murphy is a graduate from Yale School of Music’s prestigious opera program with a Master of Music degree.
He has been a featured artist with many of New England’s premier opera companies including Opera North, Opera Theater of Connecticut, Salt Marsh Opera, Opera Connecticut, Connecticut Lyric Opera, and Yale Opera.
Season 2017/18 Murphy was a Stipendiat with Deutsche Oper in Berlin where he performed in twelve operas, including Schaunard in La Bohème, Fiorello in Il Barbiere di Siviglia, and Wagner in Faust.
Murphy is currently a member of the International Opera Studio at Opernhaus Zürich, and spring 2019 he appeared as Figaro in Il Barbiere di Siviglia at Theater Winterthur. At Opernhaus Zürich, Dean performed in Barrie Kosky’s new production of Die Gezeichneten, in Sweeney Todd, and in Tatjana Gürbaca’s new production of Le Grand Macabre.
In August 2019 Murphy joins the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro for Il Viaggio a Reims and then Menuhin Festival’s in Gstaad for Carmen, before her returns to a new season at Opernhaus Zürich
