Cathrine Ahlsen

Cathrine Alhsen is Head of costumes at Bergen National Opera.

Cathrine Alsen started in 2007 as Head of Costumes here at Bergen National Opera, and is in charge of the costumes for our performances – in collaboration with the costume designer for each production.

She has also been costume designer for La Cenerentola (Cinderella) by Rossini in 2012 and the "Dama til Mozart"-tour autumn 2016. Autumn 2019 she was the costume designer for Sondheim's Sweeney Todd in collaboration with the stage director Christopher Luscombe.

Spring 2020 she designed the costumes for the school tour about Mozart's opera La clemenza di Tito, with the title "Kjærlighet i rødt, hvitt og svart" (Love in red, white and black).

Ahlsen is costume designer for the family opera Amahl and the Night Visitors, which premiered in December 2022, and which will be revived this year in December. She is also costume designer and costume maker for our yearly summer academy Opera by the Fjord.

In addition she is a member of the steering group for Costumes, Make-up and Wigs at the international organisation Opera Europa.
