The young Norwegian soprano Caroline Wettergren from Fana/Bergen studied at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo and at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen. Already as a student she sung Adelaide in Lulu directed by Stefan Herheim at the Norwegian National Opera.
One of her signature roles is Queen of the night in Die Zauberflöte, which she performed on venues as the Royal Opera in London and at the Welsh National Opera – and also in a new production at Glyndebourne summer 2019.
She has also sang at Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich several times, as Gretel in Hänsel und Gretel, and spring 2019 as Blonde in Die Entführung aus dem Serail. From December she will sing the Princess in the new opera The Snow Queen (Snedronningen) by Hans Abrahamsen.
Autumn 2019 we are thrilled to have the opportunity to hear her two times at home in Grieghallen: First as the soloist in the heavenly 4th Symphony by Mahler, then as Johanna in Sweeney Todd.
