Audun Halvorsen

The Norwegian bassoonist Audun Halvorsen joins Opera by the Fjord for the first time in 2024, as mentor for the wood wind students together with the flutist Karl-Heinz Schütz.

Audun Halvorsen is Principal Bassoon in the Danish National Symphony Orchestra (DR SymfoniOrkestret) in Copenhagen, and also teaching bassoon at The Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen and at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo.

Audun Halvorsen (b. 1979) studied with Robert Rønnes, Eirik Birkeland and Knut Sønstevold, and Ole Kristian Dahl was his coach and mentor for many years after. Since 2006 Halvorsen is Principal Bassoon in the Danish National Symphony Orchestra (DR SymfoniOrkestret) in Copenhagen, a position he also held in NDR Sinfonieorchester in Hamburg (2011), Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra (2005-2006) and in Norrköping Symphony Orchestra (2001-2007).

As a guest, Halvorsen has played with orchestras such as Luzerne Festival Orchestra, London Symphony Orchestra, Mahler Chamber Orchestra and the biggest orchestras in Scandinavia. He has played in chamber music festivals such as Crusell Music Festival, Pracownia Fagocisty-Poznan, Stavanger, Risør, Rosendal and Sandefjord Music Festivals. He has also been giving Master Classes around in Europe and China.

Audun Halvorsen is also teaching bassoon at The Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen since 2009.
