Sofia Nesje Enger

The Norwegian soprano Sofia Nesje Enger will make her role debut as Mélisande autumn 2025, directed by Alan Lucien Øyen.

Norwegian soprano Sofia Nesje Enger (b. 1995) completed her Master’s degree at the Academy of Opera in Oslo in 2024. While still a student, she embarked on her professional career with a several performances across Norway and Europe.

She made her operatic debut in 2022 as Clarice in Haydn’s Il mondo della luna with the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra & Opera, with performances both in Norway and Poland. As the final production of her studies, she performed the role of Cephisa in Telemann’s Orpheus at the Norwegian National Opera & Ballet, in collaboration with Barokksolistene and directed by Stefan Herheim.

In the spring of 2024, she was featured as the soprano soloist in Bruckner’s Mass in F minor with the Bucharest Radio Choir & Orchestra, conducted by Sascha Goetzel. During the same season, she performed the role of Vigdis in Kjell Habbestad’s Mostrasuite with the Norwegian Radio Orchestra under the baton of Eivind Gullberg Jensen.

In spring 2025, she will appear as Despina in Mozart’s Così fan tutte at the Norwegian National Opera & Ballet. The following year, she has been invited as a soloist for the New Year’s Gala at Théâtre de La Monnaie in Brussels.

Sofia Nesje Enger has previously participated in Bergen National Opera’s summer academy Opera by the Fjord and appeared in Trippel Rossini at Den Nationale Scene in 2023.
