Rune Brodahl
Horn player Rune Brodahl is back as teacher and section leader for the brass students at our Summer Academy Opera by the Fjord 2025
Rune Brodahl from Sandnes in Norway started to play the cello when he was 8 years old, but as a teenager he changed to the french horn as his instrument.
He studied at Østlandets Musikkonservatorium in Oslo with Kjell Erik Arnesen from the Oslo Philharmonic. He received the Shell-award in 1994, and the next year he started playing in the orchestra at The Norwegian Opera and Ballet, where he now has the solo horn position.
He has also played solo horn at GöteborgsOperan and The Finnish National Opera. In addition to his position at the opera in Oslo, he is active as a chamber musician, and plays regularly with The Norwegian Chamber Orchestra (Det Norske Kammerorkester) and Nordisk Brass Ensemble. He has also participated in CD recordings.
He is one of the leaders for Musicians Bridge, an organization that works with young musicians in Bolivia.
Rune Brodahl was teacher and section leader for the brass students at our Summer Academy Opera by the Fjord also in 2021, 2022 and 2023.
