Nadja Stefanoff
The German soprano Nadja Stefanoff sings the double role as Marie and Marietta when The Dead City (Die tote Stadt) premieres here in Bergen in November
Nadja Stefanoff is born in Chemnitz in Germany and completed her singing at the University of Music in Dresden and at the Staatsoper Dresden.
From 2007 to 2014 she was a member of the ensemble at Bremen Theatre, before moving to the ensemble of the State Theatre in Mainz in 2014/15.
She has also made guest appearances at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Stuttgart State Opera, the Komische Oper in Berlin, the State Operetta in Dresden and Oper Bonn.
She sang the role as Marietta i The Dead City) Die tote Stadt by Korngold at the Finnish National Opera in 2019 (stage director: Kasper Holten), and then at Deutsche Oper am Rhein last year (2023) – with Daniel Kramer as stage director.
This autumn (2024) she sings Elettra in Idomeneo by W.A.Mozart, and The Marschallin in Das Rosenkavalier by Richard Strauss at Staatsheater Mainz – in addition to the double role as Marie and Marietta here in Bergen.
Spring 2025 she will sing the title role in Ariadne auf Naxos at Teatr Wielki in Poland before she in June sings the roles as Gladys and Eddie’s Lawyer in premiere of the opera Voice Killer at Musiktheater an der Wien, directed by Stefan Herheim.
