Martina Starr-Lassen
Autumn 2024 soprano Martina Starr-Lassen guides pupils in Bergen into the world of Amahl and the Night Visitors – together with tenor Stian Økland.
American-Norwegian soprano Martina Starr-Lassen is a graduate from the Masters course at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester (RNCM). Previously, Martina completed her Bachelor of Music with Honours at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (RCS) as an RCS Trust Scholar.
Martina was supported as a young artist by the Edvard Grieg Kor (EGK) and Bergen National Opera’s (BNO) Unge Stemmer programme. She has performed as guest singer with the EGK, chorus in a number of BNO productions and she has organized several themed recitals in Bergen under their aegis.
During her time at the RCS, Martina was an original and full-time member of the RCS Voices Consort, performing repertoire from Bach motets to Messiaen, at venues and festivals across Scotland, including the St. Magnus International Festival and the Aberdeen International Youth Festival.
Recent performances at the RNCM include the role of Soeur Catherine in Poulenc’s Dialogues des Carmélites, a Spotlight concert featuring Rachmaninoff romances accompanied by dancers from the South Manchester Dance School, and the role of Elvira in Mozart’s Don Giovanni in RNCM Opera scenes.
