Magnus Staveland

Magnus Staveland is a Norwegian tenor, born in Stavanger in 1979. He studied at the Norwegian Academy of Music and the Royal Danish Opera Academy in Copenhagen.

Staveland made his debut as Tamino in Mozart’s The Magic Flute at the Norwegian National Opera in 2006 and has since enjoyed an extensive international career on both the opera and concert stages. His engagements have included the renowned Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Teatro La Fenice, Staatsoper Berlin, Opéra de Paris and the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence. His repertoire ranges from Mozart and Haydn to Monteverdi, Handel and Vivaldi, and he is particularly acclaimed as an interpreter of early music.

Since 2021, he has been a permanent soloist with the Norwegian National Opera & Ballet. Recent highlights at the National Opera include the title role in Orpheus in the Underworld, Aegisth in Elektra, Gastone in La traviata and Rodrigo in Otello. Magnus Staveland now makes a double debut – both on our Main Stage and in the roles of Angel 3 and John.
