The choreographer Lucy Burge was a principal dancer with the leading British dance company Ballet Rambert between 1970 and 1985. During this time she performed as a guest artist with Rudolf Nureyev in Paris and Madrid, dancing the role of Colombine to Nureyev's Pierrot Lunaire. Her work as an opera choreographer includes Billy Budd in Gothenburg, Rusalka for The Scottish Opera, Der Ring des Nibelungen with Nationale/Nederlandse Reisopera and The Makropolous Case at Oper Frankfurt. In March 2019, before Lucy Burge comes to Bergen, she will be the choreographer for Handel’s Ariodante at the Lyric Opera of Chicago. Werther marks her first visit at Bergen National Opera.
