Lloyd Wood
He has directed Don Giovanni – as well as the magic show "Impossible" at West End. Spring 2020 Lloyd Wood opens Bergen International Festival with Salome.
The British director Lloyd Wood studied at Cambridge University and at University College London. He worked as an assistant director at the Royal Court Theatre and the Gate Theatre, before he became Associate Director at the Theatre Royal Haymarket (2007-2010).
2015 he directed the live magic and illusion show Impossible in London's West End at Noel Coward Theatre. After it’s world premiere it also toured the UK 2016, and in September the same year the production became the first West End show ever to open at the Dubai Opera.
For the Glyndebourne Tour autumn 2016, Lloyd created and directed Don Giovanni: Behind the Curtain.
Wood was nominated as Best Newcomer in the International Opera Awards 2017, in recognition of his acclaimed new production of Don Giovanni for English Touring Opera in 2016, which was voted "Best New Production" of 2016 at the WhatsOnStage Awards and nominated for “Best Opera Production” at the Manchester Theatre Awards.
Lloyd has also directed a staged performance of Mozart’s Die Entführung aus dem Serail conducted by Andrés Orozco-Estrada for the Houston Symphony.
