Edgaras Montvidas

Edgaras Montvidas was in 2009 awarded the Theatre Award 'The Gold Cross of the Stage' in Lithuania for his performances as Werther.

Lithuanian born tenor Edgaras Montvidas was educated in Vilnius. From 2001-2003 he was a member of the Royal Opera’s Young Artists Programme, where he sang Alfredo/La Traviata, Arminio/I Masnadieri and Fenton/Falstaff, among others. Recent engagements include Edgardo/Lucia di Lammermoor for Semperoper Dresden, the title role in Werther for the Opéra Nationale de Lorraine, Nancy and a return to Glyndebourne as Anatol/Vanessa by Barber. As the title role in Werther he makes his first appearance at Bergen National Opera.
