Ausrine Stundyte

Born in Vilnius, soprano Ausrine Stundyte studied voice at the Lithuanian Music Academy and at Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Leipzig. He started her career with appearances at Oper Leipzig and as a member of the ensemble of Cologne Opera, she guested in Essen, Lübeck, Lisbon or - as Sieglinde in Die Walküre - in Palermo.

Stundyte has received several scholarships and awards, among them a special award of Chambre Professionnelle des Directeurs d'Opéra Paris.

She made her role debut in the title role of Salome at Staatsoper Berlin spring 2018 and of Carlotta in Schreker’s Die Gezeichneten at Komische Oper. Autumn 2018 she was Tosca in the new production at the Finnish National Opera.

Spring 2019 she gave her debut at Opera National de Paris as Katarina Ismailova in Shostakovich’s Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk, as well as singing Salome at Teatro Comunale di Bologna. Autumn 2019 she will also appear at Wiener Staatsoper as Salome, as well as make a revisit to Staatsoper Berlin (December 2019) in this title role.

Renata in Prokofiev’s challenging The Fiery Angel has become one of her signature roles, which Stundyte has sung in Warsaw as well as at the Festival of Aix-en-Provence, Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich and at Opéra de Lyon.

Spring 2023 she sang the double part Dido – and Eine Frau – in the performances of Dido and Aeneas/Erwartung at the opera in Munich, and in May she was Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk - first at the opera in Geneva, directed by Calixto Bieito, and then at Wiener Staatsoper, both in May and June, with Matthias Hartmann as stage director.

Ausrine Stundyte visited Bergen National Opera for the first time autumn 2023 in the title role as Katya Kabanova. Spring 2024 she sang Tosca at the Royal Opera House in London – and also Emilia Marty in The Makropulos Affair (Věc Makropulos) by Janáček at Opéra de Lyon.
