Astrid Nordstad
Norwegian mezzo-soprano Astrid Nordstad sings Third lady when The Magic Flute premieres in Bergen autumn 2022.
Norwegian Astrid Nordstad from Trondheim studied at The Norwegian Academy of Music, and at the Academy of Opera in Oslo, before she continued at the Royal Opera Academy in Copenhagen. Autumn 2017 she made her debut at the Royal Opera there, as Flora in La Traviata. Spring 2017 she sang the title role in Britten’s Rape of Lucretia on the Takkelloft stage at the Royal Opera. Spring 2018 she was engaged to sing Flora at the Trondheim Opera and autumn 2019 did her debut as Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia (The Barber of Seville) at the Ringsaker Opera.
2018-2020 Astrid Nordstad was a member of the Norwegian National Opera young artist program at the Norwegian Opera and Ballet (DNO&B), performing roles like Gianetta in L’elisir d’amore, Dido in Dido and Aeneas, Majsa in The Queen of Spades, Tisbe in La Cenerentola, and Maddalena in Rigoletto.
October 2020 she joined Bror Magnus Tødenes as at our Operafest at Terminus, and she was also soloist in two different operas at DNO&B: First Mercedes in Bizet’s Carmen, under the baton of Cathrine Winnes – and then The Abbess in Puccini’s Suor Angelica (Sister Angelica), conducted by Eivind Gullberg Jensen.
September this year she received The Tom Wilhelmsen Foundation Opera Award 2022, and was granted NOK 500.000.
