Allison Cook
Mezzo-soprano Allison Cook visits Bergen spring 2023 as Rusalka’s dangerous rival, the Foreign Princess.
Mezzo-soprano Allison Cook trained at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and the national opera studios of Paris and Strasbourg.
Season 2018/18 she sung the title role as Salome at English National Opera, and she has also sung several different roles at the Royal Opera in London. She has sung the Duchess in Thomas Adès (b. 1971) first opera Powder Her Face for New York City Opera as well as Teatr Wielki in Poland and La Monnaie in Brussels. Another important role has been as Judith in Duke Bluebeard’s Castle for both the Teatro São Carlos, Lisbon and Teatr Wielki. She also sung the title role in Kaija Saariaho’s opera Émilie for Salzburg Landestheater, and Miss Jessel in Britten’s The Turn of the Screw for La Scala in Milan and in Budapest.
Allison Cook visited Bergen already in 2016, when she sang in Schönberg’s monodrama Erwartung with Bergen National Opera at Bergen International Festival, which she also has performed at Opera Vlaanderen in Belgium.
The role as the Foreign Princess (Cizí kněžnai) in Rusalka she also has performed at Staatsoper Stuttgart summer and autumn 2022.
